Mi Casa Es Su Casa: Fitzwilliam to Welcome Kilnhurst Pupils After Flood
Kilnhurst Primary School has been devastated by the flood: newly-decorated rooms have been ruined by floodwater and the outdoor learning environment of Foundation Stage has been swept away.
If you were part of the Fitzwilliam family when we were flooded by a burst pipe, you will recall how upset we all were - and that was only a small part of our school.
I have offered our empty classrooms to the pupils and staff of Kilnhurst. I don't have any more details than this to share with you at the moment. As I am sure you can appreciate, trying to re-home a full school is no mean feat and is going to take a lot of organising.
Mr Cousins, the Headteacher at Kilnhurst, and Ms Kate Davies, our Trust CEO, will be working hard to try to sort things out as soon as possible.
As soon as I have more details, I will share them with you.
For now, I am sure you will all join me in sending sympathy and assurances of a warm welcome to any pupils and staff who will be joining us for a while.
I cannot imagine how devastated we would all be it was our beloved Fitzwilliam.
