A tasty way to consider our solar system!
Y5/6 have been learning about the planets of our solar system.
To provide pupils with a more concrete understanding of a rather abstract concept, the Y5/6 teachers turned to food....quite literally!
Classes discussed the different planets and talked about their size and distance from the Sun.
They scaled them down using fruit as examples and then they went outside to measure their distance from the Sun.
Their scale showed the Earth (cherry tomato) was 1m away from the Sun but in actual fact it 148.12 billion meters!
