Vision

Our aim in our history curriculum at Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School is...

To encourage excitement and curiosity about the past.
To develop an understanding of history locally, nationally and internationally.
To develop an understanding of the world around them and how it has been and continues to be shaped by historical events.
To ask questions to further their understanding.
To think critically - enabling them to analyse sources and arguments and question their merit as evidence.
To enable every child to have a coherent understanding of chronology and how events are linked.
To develop the ability to form an opinion about events that have happened and provide evidence to support their view.
To understand the complexity of human history through the analysis of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups.
